My mom barged into my room this morning, ranting on about not allowing us to get jobs because we’re being pulled into society’s way of life and it’s pushing us away from the right path. In short, we’re not the ideal kind of Muslim she wants us to be.
And for that, she doesn’t allow us to work.

I can't even call it racism.
My mom is against me going out with someone my own race. She rages whenever I’m on the phone with him.
She wasn’t like this when I was on the phone with a Japanese or a Chinese boy.
The more she hates on him, the deeper I fall into this love. And the stronger the need to protect this fragile relationship from being destroyed.
I was never like this before.
